Update Time!

Ok, its update time! Since my last entry, I met and recieved my petition from one of the local lodge members. I filled the petition out right away and handed it in in time to be presented in lodge before the summer break. My petition was in fact read and the Investagative Committee was formed and visited on Monday night! What a nerve wracking experience, I have never done well with job interviews or the like, but the whole thing went very well. There were supposed to be three gentleman but only one was able to make it! A very nice guy who asked my all the usual questions and adressed a couple of my wifes concerns. Took about an hour, swapped a few stories about football and logging, overall a very positive experience! The next day a recieved a letter in the mail from the Secretary of the Lodge letting me know basically the details I have described here. So if everything goes as described my petition will be balloted on Sept 1 and confirming the EA degree on Sept 15! Never thought I would say this but, I wish summer was over already!

  1. Glad to hear your visit with the committee went well. It sounds a lot like my visit was.

Since my last update, I have not gotten my letter of acceptance back yet-but my initiation fee check was just cashed. I called the District Deputy Grand Master who helped introduce me to my Lodge; and he said that the check is normally cashed only when one has been ballloted upon and accepted! I told him I said some difficulties with mail delivery here (they tend to lose letters) and he said he'd ask tomorrow, but as far as he knows, I've been accepted and will be initiated with the new class of Entered Apprentices sometime next month! Glad to hear your experience went well...now we're both waiting!

  3. Hi....Jean-Paul...I tried to find you on Facebook but had no luck. The only person with your name is in San Diego (I don't know if that is you or not...).

Try me on Facebook: Frederick P. Kopetz, Philadelphia, PA.

  4. I just got some great news from the Lodge secretary tonight (I e-mailed him). I was voted upon on June 11, and the vote was positive, so I have been formally accepted into Freemasonry and into Jerusalem Lodge #506 in Philadelphia! The secretary said that my degree work should begin sometime this month; they don't have the schedule yet.

Looking forward now to my degree work and beginning to learn the mysteries of the Fraternity and beginning to engage in work of the Lodge.

Hoping that you get the same good news in September...how large is your Lodge? I get the impression mine is pretty big since I was one of four candidates interviewed by the Investigative Commitee just that week.

    We'll talk soon.

  5. That's great Fred! I had no doubts you would be accepted! I have no real idea about how large my Lodge is, but I do know that they have initiated 11 men in the past year. Can't wait till will can adress each other as Brother!

  6. Like your comment above!

"Can't wait until we can address each other as Brother!"

    Agreed. Looking forward to it.

The Secretary of the Lodge e-mailed me my degree schedule for the the first two degrees today:

I have formally found out that I am scheduled to take my EA degree in a regular Lodge meeting on the night of August 13th, 2009. I am then scheduled to take my FC degree (which means I'll have some studying and memorization in classes-the Lodge is strictly "Mouth-to-ear") a month later at a special degree night on September 17th. I'll have lots of learning in that month.

I also just started my own Masonic Blog at:
    http://fiatlux-freddo.blogspot.com/

I got the idea from you and some of the others who have been blogging about their experiences. Of course, I'll discuss my feelings about the degrees, but I can't do any stupid exposes'. It'd violate the oath I take next month! But, as we'll be brothers soon, you'll be experiencing the same degrees, albeit maybe with some small differences between our jurisdictions....

  7. Good luck! I have found Freemasonry is a path to light, and truth. It is also a challenge to yourself, and what you learn will bring more light (truth) to yourself. You will find out if you are up to the challenge,
